After my previous efforts to go "as tall or as long as possible" reached their limits with the Chopper Tallbike, I turned to the small hoard of kids' bikes I had amassed over the past couple of years. Why not try to make a "mini" tallbike? So that's exactly what I did.
This was a pretty straightforward project and only took about 4 hours to complete. I just stacked two small bikes on each other ensuring the bottom frame was a little bigger for stability, and then used a larger 24" front wheel to make steering easier (or so I assumed). Then I extended the seat-post and linked up the chain and front brake, and off i went. I think It's safe to say that this was one of my less practical ideas. created more just for the sake of wondering if It would work. Riding it made me hunched over and squished, so definitely wasn't ideal for long-term use. however, it would have been perfect for a 4-8 year old who wanted to try a tallbike :). |
