This was another semi-donation bike. I was given it by a friend, but it wasn't at all working. I even tried having three wheels on it, but that would make for centrally-pivoted steering. It was in a bit of a state, and didn't look like much.
This project was fairly easy to complete - at least the welding had already been done for me.
I removed the middle wheel, and linked together 3 regular 7-speed chains to make one long chain. It went from the singular chainring on the front bike, to the first chainring on the second bike. The normal chain from the second bike was on the second or third chainring. This allows the bike to be pedalled from either seat, but only the front cyclist can steer.
On my first test ride, it was fairly hard to steer; every time I turned left or right, the entire frame would tilt the opposite way, making me fall off. Eventually I got used to this, and convinced my sister to be the second rider for my next test ride. There were a few issues with the chain falling off due to not having a tensioner, but besides that it was bearable.
I shortened the chain by a few links, and then it was done. I also added on a few horns, bells, brakes and extra gears.
